Residents in Chelmsford are being reminded that Chelmsford City Council services will be closed over the Easter bank holiday weekend, with changes to bin collection days also in place.

Council offices, including the Civic Centre, will be shut during the holiday period, with services returning to normal after Easter.

Easter 2026 opening times

For the Easter weekend, council offices will be closed:

Good Friday (3 April): Closed

Saturday 4 April: Closed

Easter Sunday (5 April): Closed

Easter Monday (6 April): Closed

Normal service resumes from Tuesday 7th April, with usual opening hours of 10am to 4pm, Monday to Friday.

Bin collection changes

Due to the bank holidays, bin collections will move back by one day for most households.

Week of Easter (starting 30th March 2026):

Friday collections (Good Friday) move to Saturday 4th April

Week after Easter (starting 6th April 2026):

Monday collections move to Tuesday 7th April

Tuesday → Wednesday

Wednesday → Thursday

Thursday → Friday

Friday → Saturday 11th April

Residents are advised to leave bins out by 7am on their revised collection day.

While offices are closed, residents can still:

  • Make payments via the council website
