International juice and coffee chain Joe & The Juice is preparing to open a new branch in Chelmsford city centre, taking over premises formerly occupied by Superdrug.
UPDATE — 20 October 2026: Preparations for the new Joe & The Juice branch on Chelmsford High Street appear to be progressing, with the company continuing to recruit staff for the premises.
A new Juicer/Team Member vacancy was advertised on 15 October, while the company's official recruitment website also lists a Shift Manager position in Chelmsford.
A planning application relating to the proposed commercial use of 17 High Street was permitted on 2 October.
An official opening date has not yet been announced.

The Danish company is set to move into 17-18 High Street, bringing another major food and drink brand to the heart of Chelmsford.
The premises form part of a Grade II-listed building and were previously occupied by health and beauty retailer Superdrug.
Joe & The Juice is already recruiting staff for its new Chelmsford operation, with vacancies advertised for a number of positions including team members, shift management and an assistant store manager.
Danish chain heading to Chelmsford
Founded in Copenhagen in 2002, Joe & The Juice has expanded internationally with stores across major cities, shopping centres and transport hubs.
The company is best known for its freshly prepared juices and smoothies alongside coffee, shakes and a food menu which includes sandwiches and bowls.
Among the products for which the chain has become particularly well known are its Tunacado sandwich, avocado sandwich, Power Shake and range of freshly prepared juices.
The arrival will add another food and drink operator to Chelmsford High Street and return the former Superdrug premises to commercial use.
Superdrug itself continues to trade in Chelmsford from its store in the High Chelmer shopping centre.
Recruitment under way
Recruitment activity provides a further indication that preparations for the Chelmsford opening are moving ahead.
Joe & The Juice is currently advertising specifically for employees in Chelmsford, including front-line team members as well as management positions.
The company describes its stores as combining juices, sandwiches and coffee with a distinctive informal atmosphere, and has built a substantial international presence since opening its first location in Copenhagen more than two decades ago.
The Chelmsford branch will give the brand its latest foothold in Essex and provide another new name for shoppers and visitors to the city centre.
An opening date has not yet been confirmed.
