Two pedestrians fighting for their lives after van collision in Leaden Roding

Two pedestrians are in hospital with potentially life-threatening injuries after being struck by a van in a village near Dunmow on Tuesday evening.

The collision occurred on Stortford Road, Leaden Roding, at around 6pm on Tuesday, April 28th, leaving a 16-year-old boy and a 23-year-old man with serious injuries.

The scale of the emergency response was significant, with three ambulances, three Hazardous Area Response Team vehicles, a paramedic car, and both the MAGPAS and London Ambulance Service air ambulances attending the scene.

One of the injured was airlifted more than 35 miles to the Royal London Hospital, while the second was taken by road ambulance to Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge. Both remain in hospital receiving treatment.

The driver of the van stopped at the scene. No arrests have been made and Essex Police say their investigation is ongoing.

Officers are now urging anyone who witnessed the collision or was driving in the area at the time to come forward.
