Peverel Green Care Home raises more than £500 for Alzheimer’s Society at Summer Fête
Chelmsford care home, Peverel Green, has raised more than £500 for Alzheimer’s Society after around 90 residents, relatives and members of the local community came together for its annual summer fete.
Ahead of the fête, residents painted bird boxes to sell on the fundraising stalls, while the day itself featured homemade cakes, a barbecue, raffle and traditional fete games including Hook-a-Duck, Tin Can Alley and Name the Teddy Bear. Younger visitors were also able to enjoy a soft play area provided by the Little Party Company.
The home chose to support Alzheimer’s Society because of the close connection dementia has to the lives of many residents and their families at Peverel Green.
The team said:
“This choice is very close to our hearts. Every day, we care for residents who are living with dementia. We see their strength, and we see how much their families care for them.
“By raising money for Alzheimer’s Society, we want our residents and their loved ones to know that we are with them and that we want to play our part in supporting people affected by dementia.”
The fete also welcomed guests working in dementia support across Essex, including Mark Neville, Community Development Coordinator and Pan Essex IDC Co-Chair for the Essex Community Dementia Support Service, and Melanie Williamson, Integrated Dementia Commissioner for Essex County Council.
By the end of the day, proceeds from the stalls, games, raffle, resident-made bird boxes and donations had taken the total raised to more than £500 for Alzheimer’s Society.
Lianne Parkin, General Manager at Peverel Green Care Home, said:
“We’re incredibly grateful to everyone who helped make the fete such a success. To have around 90 people here, from our residents and their families to local organisations and members of the wider community, really showed how many connections there are around Peverel Green.”
“Supporting Alzheimer’s Society was particularly important to us because dementia is something that touches the lives of residents and families within our home. I’m very proud of what everyone achieved together and especially pleased that our residents played such an active part in the fundraising.”
The team at Peverel Green Care Home thank everyone who donated, contributed to the fete or came along on the day, as well as the local organisations that supported the event.
