Serious Crash Blocks Parkway in Chelmsford City Centre – Cyclist Taken to Hospital with Serious Injuries

Chelmsford, Essex – A section of the busy Parkway in Chelmsford city centre was blocked for a significant period on Tuesday evening following a serious collision involving a car and a motorcycle.

The incident occurred shortly before 1:10pm on Tuesday 31st March on the Parkway, between Chelmer Valley Road and Broomfield Road. Emergency services responded quickly to the scene, where a motorcyclist (described as a man) suffered serious injuries.

Essex Police confirmed that the cyclist was taken to hospital for further treatment. A spokesperson said: “Officers were called to a collision involving a car and a motorcycle in Parkway, Chelmsford… The cyclist, a man, suffered serious injuries and was taken on to hospital for further care. Our enquiries are ongoing.”

The crash caused major disruption, with the Parkway reportedly blocked and long delays building up in the surrounding area, including near the Army & Navy roundabout and routes towards Victoria Road. Traffic was partially obstructed at a nearby roundabout earlier in the day as well.

As of the latest updates, police investigations into the circumstances of the collision are continuing. No further details about the condition of the injured motorcyclist or the other driver have been released at this time.
