Chelmsford High Street Disturbance: Two Arrested for Affray Following Large Easter Sunday Brawl

Essex Police have made two arrests after a large disturbance broke out in Chelmsford High Street on Easter Sunday evening.

Officers were called to reports of a fight involving a group of men at around 11:40pm on Sunday 5th April 2026.

Footage of the incident, described by some as a “massive street brawl”, quickly circulated on social media showing men hitting and wrestling with each other in the town centre.

Police attended the scene and arrested two people on suspicion of affray.

The two individuals remain under investigation at this time. No further details about their ages or the exact circumstances of the arrests have been released.

A police spokesperson said:

“We were called to reports of a disturbance in Chelmsford High Street at around 11.40pm on Sunday 5th April. Officers attended and made two arrests for affray.”

Essex Police are continuing their enquiries and have issued a public appeal for information.
